Excitebike was always one of my favorite games for the original NES as I spent countless hours zipping around the race tracks trying to take home the championship. And a new game, Retro Highway, is bringing some of that 8-bit racing fun back in an accessible and modern package.
Old-school gamers will be happy to hear that along with the retro graphics, the game has a wonderful chiptune soundtrack.
And just like the older games, don’t expect an easy time on the road. Gamers will tear through six different environments – everything from a hot desert to a moon base.
There are more than 10 bikes and various different power-up to upgrade.
Retro Highway is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
Even if you’re not old enough to remember the Excitebike series and other arcade motorcycle racing games, you’ll still want to check out Retro Highway. The modern touch controls and quick game sessions make it perfect any iOS device.
