- 1x1 - L’Oreal To Bring An Augmented Reality Makeup Experience To FacebookUnlike virtual , reality (AR) is where the world and the virtual world blend together. Each has its own purpose, but AR seems to be more useful when it comes to things like fashion, where it can be used to give users an idea of how a pair of glasses might look on them.

In the case of L’Oreal, it seems that the company will be using AR technology to bring a hi-tech makeup experience onto Facebook. “Via a direct and seemless connection between both platforms, ModiFace and will deliver to people all over the world, for the first , augmented reality powered make up try-on experiences from the world’s leading beauty brands, such as Maybelline, L’Oréal Paris, NYX Professional , Lancôme, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Urban Decay, and Shu Uemura.”

At the moment the common way for people to try on makeup is to actually go to the store, or borrow some of their friend’s makeup. However with AR makeup experience, users will be able to try all kinds of makeup on the fly, without having to apply them and remove them which can take a while.

From what we can tell from the demo video uploaded onto Facebook, it seems like it does a pretty good job of giving users an idea of what a particular shade might look on them. Granted going out and trying it in person is probably the best idea, but if you don’t have the time or if you just want to see if a color combination works, this could do in a pinch.
