Still need some (very, very last-minute) holiday gift guide ideas? Let Oprah help you.
Last month, the mogul released her list of “Favorite Things of 2018” and it also includes her 10 favorite tech gadgets. Oprah’s list includes some expected picks (iPhone XR and Apple Watch Series 4, for example), but it also includes some recommendations that you may not be familiar with.
These are the 10 tech gadgets Oprah picked as her favorites of 2018:
Courant Catch:3 Wireless Charging Accessory Tray
This elegant valet tray that doubles as a wireless charger and it looks pretty nice on a desk or night stand. It’s made from premium pebble-grain Italian leather and quality aluminum alloy for durability. Have devices that can’t be charged wirelessly? No worries. It also features an additional USB-A output.
You know the drill. With the Echo Spot you can use voice recognition to watch video flash briefings, see music lyrics, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, browse, and listen to Audible audiobooks. All hands-free. It connects to Alexa so you can do even more, like play music, read the news, answer questions, set music alarms, and control smart home devices.
Oprah’s iPhone pick? it’s not the XS. She recommends the more affordable iPhone XR, which boasts an all-screen design, liquid retina display, and what Apple calls “the longest battery life ever in an iPhone.”
Samsung 2018 Q7FN QLED TV
Oprah went big with her pick of this Samsung QLED TV. It features a boundless 360-degree design, Ambient Mode that lets the TV blend perfectly with home décor, and a Q Smart function that lets you find streaming and live TV shows with a universal guide, OneRemote and voice assistance.
RapidX X5 Car Charger
Got a big fam? Avoid fights on road trips with the X-5 USB Car Charger, which allows all car passengers (well, up to five of you) to charge their USB powered devices at the same time. Simply clip the USB hub extension onto your carseat pocket to enable even those in the back to charge their devices, tangle free.
Lumos Smart Bike Helmet
Safety first! The Lumos Helmet is integrated with super bright white LEDs in the front and solid red LEDs in the back to ensure you stand out on the road. It also has bright left and right turn signals that users can activate via a wireless remote.
iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac users will appreciate the gift of Apple AirPods, which instantly turn on and connect to your device when you pull them out of their case. To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call, or even get directions, it’s easy — just double-tap to activate Siri.
Ricoh Theta 360 Camera
The Ricoh Theta makes it easy to shoot 360 video — just push a button. No need to worry about the angle of view, tilt, and camera settings. And it can shoot without a smartphone or any external recording device. It’s so light and compact so you can take it with you on your adventures.
Katana Safety Arc
This is no regular medical alert device. An innovative personal safety device, the Katana Safety Arc easily attaches to your phone and connects you to a live emergency response agent and your most trusted friends with the press of a button.
The first alarm is a piercing audible siren that’s activated with just the flick of a finger or by using the ingenious hidden wristband, the second alarm is a discreet silent-alert button for use in an uncomfortable situation when a loud siren might not be appropriate, and the third layer of defense facilitates a user’s Circle: up to seven pre-determined contacts that will be sent a map of the user’s location in the event of an emergency.
Apple Watch Series 4 Gold Stainless Steel Case With Gold Milanese Loop
“I’d only ever take off my Apple Watch to replace it with a new one, which is my plan with the latest model,” says Oprah. The Apple Watch Series 4 has the largest Apple Watch display yet, a new electrical heart sensor, re-engineered digital crown with haptic feedback.
