NEW DELHI: WhatsApp for iPhone recently got a new button for group video calls. The has been rolling out with the latest stable version 2.18.380. However, has quietly pushed a long awaited PiP feature with the latest version for its Android too.

Notably, the feature has been in beta mode for more than two months. It was first spotted in October for WhatsApp beta users. The PiP mode is reported to be coming to the users via the Play Store with WhatsApp stable version 2.18.380. Interestingly, there is no official changelog for the new change.

With the latest feature, WhatsApp Android users can view videos even when scrolling through the chat windows. For now, it is available for videos from YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram only. The feature gets activated as soon as one sends or receives a link from either of the social media platforms. One the link is tapped, the video will automatically start playing in the picture-in-picture mode, without wanting the user to leave current chat.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reported to introduce a host of new features for its users. These include dark mode, sharing contact via QR code, multi-shares file and more. Spotted for both Android and iOS WhatsApp users, the dark mode on WhatsApp will be similar to that of other platforms like , Google Maps, Twitter. Also, the upcoming feature of sharing contact QR code will be similar to the Nametag feature of Instagram. It will help WhatsApp users to share their contact information more easily. A unique QR code will be generated for every user that will include their contact information. Once this QR code is shared, WhatsApp will automatically fill all fields and the contact will be added in users’ address book.
